Day 01: Arrival in Colombo / Transfer to Negombo

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, where a KB Leisure representative will welcome you. Transfer to Negombo (approximately 20–30 minutes by car), a coastal town famous for its lagoons, colonial history, and fishing industry. Check into your hotel and enjoy a leisure evening with options to stroll along Negombo Lagoon or the golden beach, explore the local fish markets, or relax in your resort. Dinner can be arranged at the hotel or a nearby seafood restaurant. Overnight in Negombo.

Depart early for Sigiriya (around 4 hours by road), passing through small towns and lush countryside. Upon arrival, visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Climb the rock, stopping to view the 5th-century frescoes, the Mirror Wall inscriptions, and the summit ruins, where ancient water gardens, terraced gardens, and the king’s palace are located. In the late afternoon, participate in a guided village walk in a nearby rural settlement, meeting local families, observing traditional farming techniques, and learning about daily village life. Overnight in Sigiriya.

Start early for a morning safari at Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park (around 1–1.5 hours drive), known for large elephant herds, water buffalo, and exotic birds. Experienced guides will point out wildlife behaviors and hidden species not visible to casual observers. After the safari, return to Sigiriya and visit Dambulla Cave Temple, a complex of five caves adorned with over 150 Buddha statues and vibrant murals depicting Jataka tales and historic events. Afternoon at leisure or optional exploration of local markets. Overnight in Sigiriya.

Drive to Kandy (approx. 2.5–3 hours), passing through scenic highlands and traditional villages. Check in at your hotel and proceed to visit the Temple of the Tooth, which houses a sacred relic of the Buddha. Participate in evening rituals including the lighting of oil lamps and chanting ceremonies. Later, attend a traditional Kandyan cultural performance featuring drummers, dancers, and fire performers. Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, famous for orchids, palm trees, and medicinal plants, as well as its historical significance to Sri Lankan royalty. After the gardens, board a scenic train from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya (approximately 4 hours), known for its breathtaking views of rolling hills, tea plantations, and misty valleys. On arrival, visit a tea plantation and factory to observe plucking, processing, and tasting of Ceylon tea. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Early morning departure to Horton Plains National Park (approx. 1 hour drive). Hike through montane grasslands and cloud forests to World’s End cliff, Baker’s Falls, and smaller viewpoints, with guides explaining flora, fauna, and conservation efforts. Return to Nuwara Eliya for lunch and relax in a colonial-style bungalow surrounded by tea estates. Evening at leisure, optional stroll around Gregory Lake. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Drive to Ella (approx. 2.5–3 hours), passing through tea estates, waterfalls, and small highland villages. Check in at your boutique accommodation. Take a guided walk to Nine Arches Bridge and hike Little Adam’s Peak, experiencing panoramic highland views, endemic birds, and lush greenery. Evening at leisure to explore Ella town or relax at your accommodation. Overnight in Ella.

Depart for Yala National Park (approx. 4–5 hours), with optional stops at scenic viewpoints and small local villages. Arrive in time to check in to a lodge near Yala. Embark on an evening jeep safari to observe leopards, elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species in their natural habitat. Guides provide in-depth explanations of wildlife behavior, tracking techniques, and ecosystem dynamics. Overnight near Yala.

Drive to Mirissa on the southern coast (approx. 4–5 hours), passing through Galle for a brief stop if desired. Check in at your beachfront resort and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. In the evening, take a guided sunset beach walk, exploring the coastline, local fishing activity, and observing the waves under the changing colors of the sky. Overnight in Mirissa.

Early morning departure for a whale and dolphin watching tour from Mirissa harbor, with trained guides providing spotting tips and insights into marine life. Return for breakfast and enjoy a leisurely day on the beach or at the resort, with options for snorkeling, swimming, or spa treatments. Evening at leisure with local seafood or resort dining options. Drive back to Colombo (approx. 2–3 hours), stopping for city exploration depending on flight timing. Visit landmarks such as Galle Face Green, Pettah Market, or the Gangaramaya Temple for last-minute cultural and shopping experiences. Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure flight.
